Malicious campaign by daily Mirror – Elilan

The Trincomalee political head of the LTTE, Mr. Elilan charged that the Sri Lanka daily, the daily mirror carries a malicious campaign, quoting his name.

The daily under the titled “LTTE bans women working in NGOs” said, “The Trincomalee leader of the LTTE Elilan, has sent a letter to NGOs demanding the dismissal of all female employees working in their establishments. The decree demands that females are not to be recruited in future”.

The reporter, Senaka de Silva, further said in his report, “The letter says that the LTTE has in its possession proof that women have been abused by NGOs”.

Mr. Elilan said, he or his political division never made such comment, statement or even sent a letter as quoted by the daily. “There are vested interested parties in the south, continue to spread false stories to discredit us. It’s really unwarranted and creating confusion among the people,” he further said. He also urge the people to be calm and also more vigilant in the future about this activities.
