Sri Lanka - (Updated) Fierce Fighting in Paranthan Kills 60 SF & Injures 100

Vanni: The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) counter attacked the Sri Lankan security forces (SF) advancement from Paranthan area from Sunday morning using heavy artillery, mortars, attack helicopters, air crafts and battle tanks against the LTTE, according to the LTTE sources in Vanni.

According to the available information to TNS, at least 60 SF troopers were killed, while at least 100 SF troopers were injured and some dead bodies of the SF troopers also captured by the LTTE along with many warlike items including, PK LMG - 1, AK LMG - 1, RPG - 1 & T- 56 - 10.

Raging fighting in the Vanni area made 327,000 civilians internally displaced including 40,000 children according to the UN agency and these people are living under the trees, schools, churches and many other temporary shelters with limited or no access food, medicines and basic essentials and recent heavy flooding also added to their vows, sources further added.
