4 SLA Killed 3 Injured in Eastern Sri Lanka: LTTE (Update)

VAVUNIYA – Two Sri Lankan military personal was killed, two more injured on Ukanthai - Kumbukkan Oya Road in Ampaa'rai around 5:25 p.m. Wednesday December 3, when a LTTE commando unit opened fire on army road patrol. Earlier, around 3:00 p.m., a Special Task Force (STF) commando was killed in a LTTE mine explosion when STF troopers try to enter Kagnchikudichchaa'ru jungle area in the same district, said Nilavan, a Tamil Tiger Spokesman in Ampaarai.


Following the attacks, the STF fired artillery rounds towards the jungle area from Kagnchirangkudaa camp, he further said. The Tamil Tigers didn’t suffer any casualties during the confrontation, he further claims.

In Akkaraippattu 20 civilians were taken for inquiry by the Sri Lankan forces after a cordon and search operation, According to civilians sources in the East. Msked men were also engaged by the Sri Lankan soldiers during he cordon and search operation, they further said.

 

Meanwhile the Tamil Tiger military command in Batticaloa said Wednesday that a Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldier seriously wounded in a mine explosion Monday on Vadamunai - Welkande Road succumbed to his injuries and another SLA soldier lost his leg in a second explosion on the same road on Wednesday.


 


The LTTE had setup booby trap mines targeting the SLA soldiers who were on road patrol, the Tigers further said.
