![]() www.tamileelamnews.com TNS Corner Colombo - Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and the Sri Lankan security forces (SF) clashed in Manalaaru, Mannar, Muhamaalai and Vavuniya area as SF troopers tried to advance into the LTTE held area using tanks, heavy artillery and mortars for last one year and SF yet to make any significant gain in the North, according to military observers.
Sri Lankan Prime Minister, Ratnasiri Wikramanayaka told the Sri Lankan parliament that, some 120 soldiers were killed and at least 945 SF troopers were wounded in April alone due the fights between government troops and the Tamil Tigers, but the government's military campaign has yielded results.
Sri Lankan government recently unilaterally scrapped the truce pact which was signed between the LTTE and the GoSL in February 2002 under the Norway mediation.
