Heavy Fighting Kills 15 Sri Lankan SF in Manalaaru

Manalaaru- Sri Lankan Security Forces (SF) clashed last two days with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in Manalaaru Heavy fighting ensued between rebels and the on SF Monday and Tuesday in Ceylon Threatre. At least 15 SF were killed while many other SF were wounded as SF troopers tried to advance into these areas, according to the rebel sources.

 

One T-56 assault rifle, eighteen magazines, four-thousand rounds, four gun holsters, five helmets, two knives, four military kit bags and six water cans were seized by the Tigers after the confrontation on Wednesday. The SF retreated to its positions after the failed attempt to break into LTTE territory, the Tigers said.

 

Vanni region seen worst fighting where hundreds of soldiers were killed many hundreds wounded and Sri Lankan military lost sizable military hardware to the LTTE. Sri Lankan monks urged the government to continue its self claimed eastern victory march and completely defeat the LTTE.

 

5, 800 people have been killed and 500,000 people are internally displaced in past 24 months of intense battles between SLA and LTTE.
