Same sources claimed that, none of the Japanese funded ProPoor Japanese nationals were hurt as the Claymore attack was targeted the a road patrol of elite Special Task Force (STF) foot patrol at Vaazhakkaaddu junction on Kokkaddichchoalai - Vavunatheevu Road.
Sri Lanka's special Long Range unit better known as LRRP unit was responsible for many attacks in Sri Lanka where scores of civilians killed and injured in the past. Both warring parties in the Sri Lankan protracted conflict uses Claymore attacks on each other extensively.
