Amsterdam - All 47 Leftists Movements World Wide took part in a Seminar organized in Amsterdam, Netherlands fortnight ago stressed that; the Sri Lanka government is carrying out an undeclared war against the Tamil people. The government of Mahinda Rajapaksa had unilaterally abrogated the 2002 cease-fire agreement with the LTTE. The anti-war opposition has been put under extreme pressure.

Millions of Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims are suffering of the protracted conflict in Lanka. All leftist movements in the world, intellectuals, human rights activists and organizations all should support the Self-Determination Rights of Tamils in Sri Lanka to resolve this over three decades old conflicts in Lanka.

Vickramabahu Karunarathne (’Bahu’) is the general secretary of the Nava Saja Samana Party (NSSP - New Socialist Party) in Sri Lanka also took part in a Seminar organized by the 47 Leftists Movements World Wide in Amsterdam, Netherlands fortnight ago. The right of self determination of the Tamil speaking people is the foremost issue in modern Lankan society is the stands of the NSSP.

The Nava Sama Samaja Party, from its inception defended the Right of Self Determination of the Tamil speaking people. The Nava Sama Samaja Party’s position is that, the only unity possible is the voluntary union of the two nationalities. For this, recognition of the right of self determination of Tamil people is a precondition. Acceptance of equality, autonomy and the Right of Self Determination is the only basis for a democratic unity.

The Mahinda Regime while paying lip service to the peace project is hell bent on crushing the Tamil uprising.  Tamils in Sri Lanka particularly suffering from all forms of human rights violations such as enforced mass abductions, mass disappearances, unlawful execution style summery killings, tortures, rapes, destruction of personal, public and cultural properties, forceful displacements of almost half a million people internally and close to million of Tamils displaced all over the world. Within past two year alone at least 44 aid workers, 10 journalists and 5, 800 people were killed and Tamil citizens in Sri Lanka are in a quandary.
