LTTE recovers 4 SLN Bodies of the last Saturday Sea Battle in Jaffna

Vanni - Last Saturday, the sea wing of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) Sea Tigers, attacked a Sri Lankan Navy (SLN) convoy which comprised 20 vessels and sunk a Dvora Fast Attack Craft and a fast hovercraft while damaging another Jet SLN navel craft the seas off Naakarkoayil in Vadamaraadchi. Four SLN navy personals dead bodies reached shore line of the Vadamarchi East and recovered by the LTTE, according to the sources in Vanni.

 

The LTTE is making arrangement to handover the 4 SLN bodies to Sri Lanka through Red Cross, but at this point it is not clear whether Sri Lanka is prepared to accept those bodies from the LTTE, sources added.

 

Sri Lanka while admitted the last Saturday clash between Sea Tigers and the SLN, claimed only five of their SLN forces were injured in the clash while killing over 16 Sea tigers in the clash.

 

The LTTE claimed that their black tigers attacked on the SLN convoy killed at least 20 SLN personals while a Dvora Fast Attack Craft and a fast hovercraft were sunk and another Jet SLN navel craft was severely damaged. They also said the SLN was forced to withdraw, towing the damaged vessel, to Kaangkeasanthu'rai (KKS) naval base.

 

Escalated military operations in North forced close to 250,000 civilians to internally displace including 40,000 children, and these people are living under the trees, schools, churches and many other temporary shelters with limited or no access food, medicines and basic essentials, sources further added. Three decades old civil war in Sri Lanka killed at least 215,000 people according to the surveys done by the UN World Health Organization.
